TWO CURIOUS GOATS
The year was 1924 when six mountain goats made their debut in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was an exciting time in these hills. The carving of Mount Rushmore was becoming a reality and Peter Norbeck, a politician and promoter, saw his dream of Custer State Park come to life as a game preserve. In addition to the free roaming bison, enclosures were added to house other animals creating a zoo of sorts. Now Mr. Norbeck, hoping to attract prospective tourists to the park, thought these six newly acquired mountain goats from Canada would make a big hit. And so, the story goes, the six arrived and were escorted to their new home where they were put in the enclosures. It seems the goats were not as excited about their new accommodations as their promoters. The first night two of the six broke free and in due time the rest of the gang followed. The escaped felons wandered into the Black Elk Wilderness area where they became known as a motley crew of goats living in the wild. Over the years their numbers grew, and they began to spread out into new areas. A few of this ragtag bunch ended up in a special place in the Northern Black Hills known as Spearfish Canyon. Their modest numbers grew and most days these sure -footed climbers can be seen on the rock- ribbed walls of the canyon or grazing by Spearfish Creek. For those of us who love to capture photographs of these clever goats, Spearfish Canyon provides a beautiful backdrop, and never disappoints with its unique geological formations, the changing seasons, and of course the goats. My picture, Two Curious Goats, is one of my favorites. I was meandering down the road, slinging my camera, in hopes of seeing the goats. I spotted a momma and her baby at the cave like opening locals know as “the intake.” I was about to get a shot when a loud Harley Davidson pulled off the road and frightened the two and they fled into the cave. Being a patient onlooker, I sat down and made myself comfortable and waited until the biker moved on. Soon it was quiet with no one around. Curious to see if the coast was clear, two heads peeked out of the opening. The look on their faces was too adorable for words, but as it goes, the picture says it all.

FINE ART PAPER PRINTS
Our Fine Art Paper Prints use museum grade, velvet fine art paper that is made from 100% cotton fiber that is archival and acid-free. This paper offers a unique extra smooth surface and makes it very ideal for fine art photography. This surface enhances the vivid colors, sharp contrast, and subtle details, creating a life like quality that draws the viewer into each scene.
HD METAL PRINTS
When printing HD metal prints the dye sublimation process is used. During the dye sublimation process the image is first printed onto a transfer paper with “dye” inks then “sublimated” into the aluminum sheet with heat and pressure. At this point the inks are bonded with the aluminum for permanent protection and longevity. Because the inks are infused beneath the coating of the metal these prints are also scratch resistant and hold up perfectly in moist environments. Unlike other print mediums you can wipe away fingerprints easily with a soft microfiber cloth and glass cleaner which will leave your HD Metal Prints looking like new for a lifetime. Archival inks are used along with Epson transfer paper and Chromaluxe brand aluminum sheets which creates the highest resolution image possible for vibrance, clarity and longevity on the market.
HD ACRYLIC PRINTS
The Studio we partnered with have set out to create the highest quality, highest definition Acrylic Prints on the market, similar to the ones you would see at famous photographers gallery. To create these type of high end Acrylic prints it is essential to use the “face-mounting” method. This is where they first print your image onto a high resolution photo paper, then using a clear adhesive, they mount this sheet directly onto the acrylic sheet. They take it a step further and use a metallic photo paper which gives your image a luminous appearance. Each and every HD Acrylic Print is individually hand crafted and treated like a work of art. For the finishing touch they polish the edges of your HD Acrylic Print to create a diamond finish.
CANVAS PRINTS
Our premium canvas prints are printed on a semi-gloss white poly-cotton blend, specifically designed for the upscale photography markets. You will not find this quality except through a high-end studio production process. By using ultra chrome 9 color eco-solvent inks this produces true giclee’ prints that will last a lifetime!
Our dedication to artistic craftsmanship and commitment to excellence is what Rick and Kristin strive for from the time the image is captured to the final product on your wall.
The true artistry lies in the ability to capture and convey the essence of nature’s beauty.
