Light of the Storm

The Story:
‘Light of the Storm’ and ‘Seeing the Light’ The story of both these photographs took place in the Badlands National Park. Daylight was slipping away as my husband Rick turned his Jeep off the road. He quickly jumped out, camera in hand, and perched himself on a rock. The light was perfect over the buttes, and he knew he had to get the shot before the approaching storm engulfed the last of the light. He knew this was no place to be caught in a storm. He paused… took the shot and headed back to the Jeep. He turned and took one last glimpse at this lonely land the Lakota refer to as “the Badlands.” The name reflects the steep terrain with its rugged buttes and deep canyons. When the ground becomes wet, it turns to a sticky clay, making travel difficult. This landscape is constantly changing and reflects more than is seen on the surface. For the Lakota, this is a land where their tales are woven into the fabric of the landscape. They refer to it as mako sico, which translates to land bad. According to Lakota lore, here is where an ancient woman has been crafting a buffalo robe for thousands of years. To them, this a land that sustained them as they hunted the mighty buffalo they call Tatanka and kept them hidden in uncertain times when their way of life was threatened. This place speaks of a spiritual power that has given them hope to continue in the beliefs of their ancestors and that is still alive today. As you view these pictures, use your imagination to take you back to a simpler time and a way of life that echoes in the canyons of these Badlands. This is a story that must never be forgotten.

Creative Reflection’s Photography offers the highest standard of excellency when choosing the type of media used to convey the vibrancy, richness and individuality of Rick’s and Kristin’s photography.

Please take a moment to view the medias we have chosen to enhance each unique work of art. We have partnered with an award-winning studio to captivate the essence of the photograph that will last forever.

FINE ART PAPER PRINTS
Our Fine Art Paper Prints use museum grade, velvet fine art paper that is made from 100% cotton fiber that is archival and acid-free. This paper offers a unique extra smooth surface and makes it very ideal for fine art photography. This surface enhances the vivid colors, sharp contrast, and subtle details, creating a life like quality that draws the viewer into each scene.

HD METAL PRINTS
When printing HD metal prints the dye sublimation process is used. During the dye sublimation process the image is first printed onto a transfer paper with “dye” inks then “sublimated” into the aluminum sheet with heat and pressure. At this point the inks are bonded with the aluminum for permanent protection and longevity. Because the inks are infused beneath the coating of the metal these prints are also scratch resistant and hold up perfectly in moist environments. Unlike other print mediums you can wipe away fingerprints easily with a soft microfiber cloth and glass cleaner which will leave your HD Metal Prints looking like new for a lifetime. Archival inks are used along with Epson transfer paper and Chromaluxe brand aluminum sheets which creates the highest resolution image possible for vibrance, clarity and longevity on the market.

HD ACRYLIC PRINTS
The Studio we partnered with have set out to create the highest quality, highest definition Acrylic Prints on the market, similar to the ones you would see at famous photographers gallery. To create these type of high end Acrylic prints it is essential to use the “face-mounting” method. This is where they first print your image onto a high resolution photo paper, then using a clear adhesive, they mount this sheet directly onto the acrylic sheet. They take it a step further and use a metallic photo paper which gives your image a luminous appearance. Each and every HD Acrylic Print is individually hand crafted and treated like a work of art. For the finishing touch they polish the edges of your HD Acrylic Print to create a diamond finish.

CANVAS PRINTS
Our premium canvas prints are printed on a semi-gloss white poly-cotton blend, specifically designed for the upscale photography markets. You will not find this quality except through a high-end studio production process. By using ultra chrome 9 color eco-solvent inks this produces true giclee’ prints that will last a lifetime!

Our dedication to artistic craftsmanship and commitment to excellence is what Rick and Kristin strive for from the time the image is captured to the final product on your wall.

The true artistry lies in the ability to capture and convey the essence of nature’s beauty.
